Vinhas do Calhau

A project where wine experience meets nature: the largest hotel and tourist resort in Pico Island, Azores – Vinhas do Calhau.

The project merged in a wine tourism area: the hotel’s structure is located in a rehabilitated vineyard area near the sea.

A 24-bedroom four-star hotel unit that comprises six apartment units: two of them with view to the Pico Mountain and the other four with sea view.

The project includes the future construction of 14 more stone houses, in a total of 20 apartments, that will provide 124 new beds and two swimming pools.

Architecturally framed by the surrounding landscape, the project explores different tone pallets: cheerful and bright colors in the houses facing the sea and sober and warm colors in the mountain apartments, facing the Pico mountain.

Furniture that fills the space refers to an industrial, comfortable and practical environment. The predominant material is wood: a noble and timeless material.

Inspired by the island, the décor refers to the surrounding landscape, with pillows, sofas and beds in cheerful tones and geometric patterns and with arrangements of frames on the walls, which refer to the typical corrals of the Pico vineyards, World heritage, or to the marine world.

What do you think? Do you love it as much as we do?
